Excuses and Goals – Pre Season Warm Up

I like cake. Cup cakes, small cakes, big ones. Doesn’t matter what, I like cake. I know that. Cake is good. I’m already trying to figure out how I can have a 40 layer rainbow flag cake for my 40th birthday. One with sparkles and glitter. Everyone needs a 40 layer rainbow flag cake for their 40th birthday. It’s just common sense really. I guess you could say it’s a goal.

One Day At A Time

I’m in a much better place today than I was yesterday. That slip up seriously put the dark thoughts centre-stage yesterday. I wasn’t prepared for that. Not at all.

I’ve battled depression for more most of my life. When I was a child/teenager my father said I was just moody. When I was in my 20’s I needed to toughen up and get on with it. When I was in my 30’s, during the time I refer to as the breakdown was the first time he recognised something was wrong.

Let the Adventure Begin

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away there lived an 18 year old who loved tennis, swam all summer and was forever riding his bike here and there. Along came a boy who told him that he could only date smokers, and so with no thought for tomorrow, the 18 year old put a cigarette between his lips and began a love/hate relationship with cigarettes that would last much longer than his first true love.

The Day After The Night Before 2012 Style

Today is December 27th 2012, the day after my annual Boxing Day Hoot’N’Nanny. I host the gathering every year. It started life as the “anti-Christmas” and over the years has morphed into the “family” Christmas for my friends and I. Yesterday was my first Boxing Day since I made the decision to life a sober life.
